The Space Merchants: A Radio Play on The CBS Radio Workshop (1957)

This radio dramatization of Pohl and Kornbluth’s novel was originally broadcast in two parts, on February 17 and February 24, 1957, as part of The CBS Radio Workshop—a series that also produced radio versions of works by Robert A. Heinlein, Sinclair Lewis, H. L. Mencken, Mark Twain, and others.

Here are four 1950s radio dramatizations of Frederik Pohl’s science fiction stories: “Tunnel Under the World” (Galaxy, January 1955), “The Mapmakers” (Galaxy, July 1955), “The Haunted Corpse” (Galaxy, January 1957), and “Target One” (Galaxy, April 1955). The stories were broadcast on NBC’s X Minus One on March 14, 1956, September 26, 1956, July 25, 1957, and December 26, 1957 respectively.
